The AZoBuild.com website is operated by AZoM.com Pty. Ltd., Sydney, Australia in partnership with CERAM, Stoke on Trent, UK.
The site and platform are based on the highly successful AZo sites, www.azom.com – The A to Z of Materials and www.azonano.com – The A to Z of Nanotechnology. The combined visitor numbers for these sites are in excess of 800,000 per month.
History
In 2003 a website called KIBT.com (Knowledge & Innovation in Building Technology) was set up by CERAM with UK governmental funding. It used the well established AZoM site architecture and methodology, and drew on a wide range of external content provider partners.
Since the launch of the KIBT website in January 2003 the site had been highly regarded and had attracted visitors to the high quality and broad coverage of content supplied by around 36 provider partners, including for example BSI, Contracts Journal, Corus, and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. This demonstrated that KIBT had a beneficial offering to users, and that a site such as this could provide a valuable content distribution channel for the partners.
In October 2004, pump priming governmental funding for KIBT ceased, and CERAM looked for an appropriate vehicle through which this type of activity, with its future promise, could be realised in a sustainable way for the benefit of both users and content suppliers. This vehicle is AZoBuild.com.
The vision for AZoBuild.com is a completely open access site with a considerably expanded user base and hence considerably larger number of people accessing and using it. This offers suppliers, service providers and content providers a much wider audience for their knowledge and their information.
