Skanska Chosen to Complete Hospital Extension Project in Wilmington, Delaware

Skanska declared that it has received an order to complete the development of the Wilmington, Delaware located Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. The value of the contract is estimated to be around $215 million.

Presently, the company is in the process of completing the construction of Nemours Children’s Hospital for the same client in Orlando, Florida.

The contracted project will require Skanska to construct five storey building measuring around 40,000 m2 to allow 144 bed expansion facilities to the present Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. The project also includes completion of a 188 underground car parking garage measuring 10,000 m2 below the new construction. The first floor of the new construction will have provision for dinning facility, retail, atrium and an emergency department. The new building will be linked back to the present hospital facility with a three-storey connecting facility. The project construction is anticipated to commence in September this year and expected to be complete in the last part of 2013.
