Contenders For The RIBA's Prestigious £20,000 Stirling Prize Announced

A library, a car factory, an art gallery, and the world-famous Scottish Parliament are among the six buildings which have made it onto this year’s shortlist for The RIBA Stirling Prize in association with The Architects’ Journal , now in its tenth anniversary year.

The £20,000 prize is awarded to the architects of the building that has made the greatest contribution to British architecture in the past year. William Hill is again offering odds on the shortlisted buildings.

The six buildings competing for this year’s title are:

  • 1. BMW Central Building, Leipzig, Germany - Zaha Hadid Architects (odds: 4-1)
  • 2. Lewis Glucksman Gallery, University College, Cork, Ireland – O’Donnell + Tuomey (odds: 3-1)
  • 3. The Scottish Parliament, Edinburgh - EMBT / RMJM Ltd (odds: 5-1)
  • 4. McLaren Technology Centre, Woking, Surrey - Foster and Partners (odds: 4-1)
  • 5. Jubilee Library, Brighton, Sussex - Bennetts Associates with Lomax Cassidy + Edwards (odds: 5-2, the favourite)
  • 6. Fawood Children’s Centre, Harlesden, NW10 - Alsop Design Ltd (odds: 5-1)
