General Woodcraft Shows Significant Growth in High Density Hardwood Decking Products

Despite the weak US economy General Woodcraft has been experiencing significant growth in their entire line of Mataverde® Premium Decking species.

The high density hardwood decking products including Ipe, Cumaru and Garapa are gaining a lot of interest with homeowners, builders and architects who are seeking an all natural product that is very durable and looks great for a long time.

The continuous reports of product recalls and class action lawsuits being brought against manufacturers of synthetic “composite” decking, has forced consumers and end users to look for long lasting natural products they can trust.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recalled decking pictured above can prematurely deteriorate and unexpectedly break. Consumers can fall through broken decking and suffer serious injuries.

The documented product failure of so many synthetic decking products has sent end users scrambling for better and safer products for decking and other outdoor structures. The fact that these synthetic products have no structural integrity prevents them from being used for most project types other than decking.

“We’ve been very concerned about these composite decking failures for the last ten to fifteen years and it’s an absolute travesty. These major composite decking manufacturers continue to spend millions on advertising. Why can’t they formulate their products to perform properly?” queried Chris Nolan, Director of Operations for General Woodcraft. “As a responsible supplier we are doing everything we can to educate builders, consumers and architects about the beauty and benefits of high density hardwood products.”

General Woodcraft has recently become an approved provider for the AIA (American Institute of Architects) and has certified over 40 architects in the past month alone. General Woodcraft President Steven Crook has taken a leading role in getting the right information out to the specifiers and is dedicated to the betterment of the industry and the community.

General Woodcraft has been committed to supplying high quality products to the architectural, building and woodworking communities for over sixty years. They attribute their long term success to providing very good materials that not only look great but must last a long time. Additionally, short and long term customer satisfaction builds continued trust and has become a source of pride for them for generations.

The 25 year limited warranty of Mataverde Premium Ipe, Cumaru and Garapa species is just one example of General Woodcraft’s unbridled zeal and commitment to overall excellence. The fact that all these materials are harvested in accordance with the latest techniques and sustainable yield forestry practices (including FSC- Forest Stewardship Council) clearly demonstrates their resolve to provide environmentally friendly product offerings.

Mataverde Premium Ipe Decking is a strong and good looking premium hardwood decking product with a high fire resistance and offers 25 years of warranty against insect damage.
