Turner Construction Company, the nation's largest builder of education facilities, was selected by the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) to manage construction of the $60 million South Region High School #9 in Los Angeles, Calif.  Since 2003, Turner has managed construction on 19 LAUSD schools, representing a total construction value of more than $600 million.

The scope of work includes the construction of three two-story buildings, containing 53 classrooms on a 16-acre site, a single-story administration building, a performing arts/multi-purpose facility with adjoining food service, a gymnasium, football, soccer, and baseball athletic fields, basketball and tennis courts and a parking area.

Turner is also serving as the general contractor for the LAUSD Valley Region High School #5 in San Fernando, Central Region High School #16 in Los Angeles, the Central Region High School #13 in Los Angeles and the Valley Region High School #9 in Van Nuys.

In addition, Turner recently completed the LAUSD Sara Coughlin Elementary School Addition project in Pacoima four weeks ahead of schedule allowing the entire school addition to open a full year earlier than originally planned.

LAUSD honored Turner Construction Company as the "2008 Contractor of the Year" Award for exceeding expectations and the company's exemplary contribution to the New School Construction Program and its commitment to safety practices on the LAUSD projects.
