Forest Stewardship Council Awards Chain of Custody Certification to Saunatec

Saunatec has received a Chain of Custody certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and will now manufacture saunas based on request utilizing FSC certified lumber.

The company’s divisions, McCoy Sauna & Steam, Polar, Tylo US, Helo, Finnleo and Amerec, will now supply sauna room packages based on the FSC lumber procured from forests that have been responsibly managed.

FSC is the only Green Building Certification Institute-accepted wood certification system for applications in LEED-certified projects. LEED is the nationally recognized green building rating program for designing, constructing and operating green buildings.

These saunas will feature FSC certified groove and tongue boards for ceiling and walls, all-glass door secured on a FSC certified door jamb, sauna heater and control according to the size of the sauna room and features chosen by the customers, sauna molding or trim and heater guard rail made of FSC materials, benches made of FSC certified S4S wood for internal framing and bench tops, and Dri-Dek vinyl-based interlocking flooring. The highly durable Dri-Dek has anti-microbial properties to keep a more hygienic environment.

This FSC certification is a testament to Saunatec’s commitment to procure lumber from responsibly managed forests wherein the workers have safe and fair working conditions. The FSC-certified sauna rooms contribute credits and points toward LEED and other green building rating programs.
