Anixter, a prominent worldwide supplier of security and communication appliances, electronic and electric cables and wires, fasteners and other small parts, has proclaimed its intent to build a new Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-authenticated structure in its corporate headquarters premises at the outskirts of Chicago in Glenview, Illinois.
The company improves its supply process by giving customers access to ingenious inventory management plans, over 450,000 products and $1 billion in inventory, about 225 warehouses spread over 7 million sq. ft., and venues in over 260 cities in over 50 countries. Anixter’s current development is an indication of its tremendous growth as well as the company’s dedication to the Village of Glenview, Cook County and the State of Illinois.
Anixter will contribute over $10 million to the development of this annex and will keep on promoting the financial well-being of Illinois by generating and maintaining more than 125 jobs in the Chicagoland region. Groundbreaking commemoration for the above venture was performed on August 17 and the annex is slated to be ready for occupation by April 2013.
In an effort to upkeep its sustainability tradition, Anixter will continue in its consistent efforts to achieve LEED authentication on the building being completed, adding to the growing list of LEED-authenticated buildings in the United States.
Anixter makes unceasing efforts to improve its business practices in order to minimize negative effects with respect to waste management, power savings, and optimum resource utilization. By setting attainable goals in each environmental sector, Anixter succeeds in maintaining the right balance between corporate social obligation and return on investment.
