According to the USGBC, Groveton Green is the first multifamily LEED Gold certified project in the LEED for Homes program in all of Maryland.

Roger Platt 's attendance was a direct result of the dedication that Fore Property Company has to its commitment to the USGBC LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) program and the environment. "Fore Property Company has established itself as an industry leader in the LEED for Homes multifamily sector by being the first to certify in North Texas and now being the first to certify in Maryland," said Platt. "USGBC appreciates their continued efforts to raise the bar for the future of multi-family development."

Councilman Kenneth Oliver attended representing Baltimore County's 4th District. "Congratulations to Fore Property Company and the residents here at Groveton Green Apartments for building and living in the first apartments in Owings Mills to receive LEED Gold Certification," Oliver said. "You are what the future looks like right here, right now, in Baltimore County. And you are proof positive that we can all live more efficiently and responsibly, and even healthier, by how and where we choose to live."

Many of the advantages to being eco-friendly such as enhanced insulation, ENERGY STAR® appliances, low-e windows and energy efficient HVAC systems are features that benefit the residents in terms of their utility bills, but with stainless steel finishes, designer cabinetry, stone countertops, and upgraded flooring they don't have to compromise luxury. "We are very pleased to receive this prestigious award from the USGBC," stated Jim Sullivan , Partner with Fore Property. "We are also thankful that we can provide this cleaner, healthier living environment to Baltimore County without residents having to lift a finger."

During the ceremony FORE also dedicated one of the three buildings on site as its "smoke free" building. This allows individuals seeking a smoke free environment the option of living in a building in which smoking is not permitted in any of its 77 apartments or common spaces.
