Prescott Unveils £22bn Regeneration Plan


The week ending 07/02/03 saw Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott launch a £22bn, three year regeneration plan. The proposal, titled Sustainable Communities: Building for the Future, outlines several areas where funding has been promised including £685m PFI funding to refurbish local authority housing, £500m to address derelict housing in ‘Pathfinder’ areas in the North and a £446m investment for the development of the Thames Gateway.

Prescott also intends to introduce a set of nine documents that will relate the plans impact upon regional areas of the country.
