Technological Innovations In Acoustic Test Laboratories

Traditionally, the acoustic behaviour of construction materials has not occupied an important place in quality control for buildings. The lack of technical knowledge, and the lack and complexity of the laboratories required to determine such behaviour have complicated quality control and the establishment of standards.  A new acoustics laboratory of the Basque Government, which has pioneering facilities, is managed by LABEIN Technological Centre, and opens a new era in building acoustics quality control, is described.  The main innovation is the use of mobile test chambers.  The laboratory performs all its tests within the range of application of ENAC accreditation.
