Schluter Makes French Connection

Specialist accessories from Schluter have provided solutions to the problems posed to tiling contractor PA Flooring during the refurbishment of the French Connection store in Sheffield.

Laying porcelain tiles on a suspended plywood floor connecting with a timber surface on both sides  was the severe challenge facing PA Flooring. The company carried out all the flooring work, tiling and timber, during  a full shopfitting refurbishment.

The Schluter-Ditra uncoupling membrane was specified to take up the considerable amount of movement anticipated in the floor.  Designed specifically to provide solutions for problem floors, Ditra is a polythylene mat with a square, dovetailed  grid structure which prevents stresses from the substrate being transferred to the tiles.  In addition, Schluter's Dilex-AKWS movement joint was used where the tiles met the oak and maple flooring.
