Wienerberger Plant Of Betschdorf (alsace): The Latest In The Production Of Ground Thermal Blocks

The Wienerberger Group is a leading heavy clay producer, with 13 plants in France producing structural masonry wall elements, facing bricks, floor blocks, flues, etc.  The Betschdorf plant, located 50 km north of Strasbourg, produces lightweight thermal blocks (Biomur), in ground and traditional versions, suitable for laying with either adhesives or mortar.  The products have excellent thermal insulation coefficient (0.33 W/m2.K for ground types), enabling them to be used in loadbearing walls without the need to adopt a hollow wall solution or to incorporate cavities in synthetic materials.  The plant also produces complementary wall accessories, providing a true "wall system" that helps to reduce building time.  Production capacity is 800 tons/day.  Brief details are given of preparation and shaping, drying car loading, drying, unloading and loading onto kiln cars, firing, grinding of the blocks, palletisation and control system.
