In order to help prefabricated brickwork gain commercial popularity, a close examination is made of other industries using prefabricated systems that have come through the initial stages of development and are now competing successfully in the market. The main focus is given to the motor and pre-cast concrete industries. Many industries use prefabricated solutions, but have also found that issues in the supply chain management of companies need to be addressed in order to gain the maximum benefits of these solutions. An attempt is made to look how these prefabricated systems operate, how the supply chain needs to be changed and what information can be drawn from past experience. Ways of improving the production, image and marketability of prefabricated brickwork are noted. 5 refs.
