Reports that two major electrical manufacturing companies are offering more choice of motor drives for heating, ventilating, and air conditioning applications, such as automation of services and management of building services. Claims that fans and pumps are frequently oversized and that a drive improves the efficiency of a motor, with a potential for saving energy; reducing wear on other components will lead to lower maintenance costs, and will also reduce acoustic noise. Discusses the different requirements for industrial and HVAC drives.
