Manufacturers of powered smoke ventilation win UK testing support

Summary

Describes a new fan test facility at BSRIA which will enable fans to be tested to the requirements of a new European standard: EN 12101 for powered smoke and heat exhaust ventilators. Fans up to 1.6 m in diameter can be tested, either ducted or fully immersed, for the full range of temperature ratings in the Standard.  The article explains that EN 12101 was due for publication in June 2002, and that a 21 month implementation period is in place within which all products intended for sale in the EU must be tested and certified against the new standard and carry the CE Mark.
