Analysis of a heat pump with solid desiccant tube bank


Presents an analysis of silica gel in a staggered tube bank arrangement for the reduction of energy consumption in a heat pump dehumidifier. Develops the mathematical models for the desiccant and heat pump. States the simulation results agree quite well with the experimental results. Concludes that the desiccant could reduce the heat pump load by about 7-20% with inlet air conditions of around 30-50degC and 70-90% RH.
