Presents a claimed innovative approach to preheating outside air intended for applications which experience low external temperatures. Suggests locating the preheat coil in the return duct from the conditioned space, rather than in the outdoor air intake duct. Indicates that a freezestat should still be installed if the preheat coil is located very close to the connection with the outside duct. The proposed approach was applied to a kitchen ventilation system.
