Regulations for open-loop ground-source heat pumps in the United States

Summary

Presents an overview of regulations applicable to open-loop ground-source heat pump systems (GSHPs) along with a summary of the various U.S. states' concerns.  States that within the U.S., each of the states has regulations that specifically apply (or a made to apply) to open-loop GSHPs.  While all of these regulations are based on the need to preserve groundwater and aquifer quality, the list of restrictions and construction requirements varies greatly from state to state. Presents the status of the regulations for all the states.
