Performance comparison of axial fan and fan-filter unit (FFU) type clean rooms by CFD

Summary

Reports on the investigation of the characteristics of two types of unidirectional clean room re-circulation systems (ie an axial type clean room and a fan-filter type clean room) which were investigated and compared numerically.  Fan performance curves and flow resistance curves of system components were directly incorporated into computational fluid dynamics analysis allowing the system operation to be calculated without need of iterations for airflow and pressure within an enclosure to match the fans characteristics.  Incorporation of the fan energy into the models allowed the power consumption to be determined.
