Planning for an intelligent future

Summary

Discusses how security systems and telemetry should be part of the design and planning of a new building's communications infrastructure, rather than be retrofitted later by the building owner. Describes why an active security system should be integrated to a building's passive security measures, such as the architecture, doors and windows, entrances and barriers to access.  The article also covers legislatory requirements and the role of the European Performance Standards in relation to the application of intruder alarms, and the provision of safe working conditions.
