Explains how the growth in computer and web-based security systems has led to an associated increase in malicious activities and the cost of recovery from breaches of IT-based security. Argues that the IT strategies employed in the past will no longer protect organisations, and that a new approach for security software is needed based on web-services architecture that protects each node or computer on the grid.
