Ground source heat pumps

States that ground source heat pump (GSHP) systems use the ground (earth, ground water or surface water) as a heat sink in the summer and a heat source in the winter. The system is considered the most energy-efficient, environmentally safe and cost effective arrangement available. Describes the types of geothermal systems, heat pump types and arrangements, water-to-air versus water-to-water heat pumps. Discusses selecting a GSHP, considerations for heat pump accessories and controls and unusual applications of GSHPs.
