Cost model

Examines how prefabrication and preassembly can deliver the buildings that clients and designers aspire to. Presents a cost model prepared by Davis, Langdon & Everest looking at case studies of recent applications of preassembly techniques. Describes the scope of the currently available prefabrication technology and describes how to procure preassembled products. Details three case studies - 1) toilet pods in a City of London office, 2) modular student residences and 3) panellised social housing. For each covers objectives, procurement, cost and programme, project outcome and main points. Concludes by advising on addressing problems with preassembly.
