Taking the LEED in water conservation

Summary

Describes the increased pressure for water conservation in the USA, including the factor of green buildings ratings from the US Green Buildings Council, in particular the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) programme, which awards points to owners of new buildings or major renovations, based on the sustainable initiatives implemented in a project. Describes how the LEED system treats water use and water-cycle management. Describes examples of three innovative but practical water reuse strategies in three buildings in the Pacific Northwest of America.
