Dispersion of particles from vehicle emissions around high- and low-rise buildings

Notes the lack of studies investigating the dispersion of particles from vehicles around buildings. Reports findings of a systematic experimental characterisation of the number concentration of submicrometre particles around the envelope of six buildings at different distances from the road. Concludes that the optimal position for air intakes to a ventilation system in high rise buildings is towards the top of the building and facing the road, providing there is no other obstruction.
