Better yet – Affordable housing

The use of volumetric modular construction was used for the construction of affordable homes in West London to satisfy the requirements of the housing association, which requested innovation. The development consisted of a six-storey block, a three-storey communal building and a terrace of two-storey houses. The bathrooms, which are relatively complex, were delivered to the site as modules, and are loadbearing. To minimise transport volume, the remainder of the scheme was constructed as apartment-sized modules, using a light-gauge steel panel system, and transported to site as a flat pack.
