Sustainable roofing systems

Marley Roofing Products and Eternit Slates have moved towards environmentally-friendly manufacturing by recycling materials, the introduction of solar roofing systems, and using returnable pallets for delivery.

Tiles are being produced using crushed waste from natural slate quarrying, recycled fibre cement material and crushed hardcore. The introduction of returnable pallets has reduced timber consumption by 1700 tonnes, and other combustible waste is processed in waste-to-energy incinerators. Water is also recycled.

Photovoltaic roofing tiles to generate household electricity have been introduced, which are completely modular and fix to standard battens.
