BACH ( Building Air Change ) computer software utilises building geometry data in conjunction with wind speed and temperature difference information to calculate air change rates of rooms within a building. An internal network structure for orthogonal and non-orthogonal buildings is automatically generated from the building design, and the program includes external air flow considerations, so eliminating the requirement to input values for the pressure coefficient, which may not be readily available. Generated data is comparable with that of other models ( BS 5925, ASHRAE, CONTAM, COMIS ). The software may be used in conjunction with other applications to predict energy use, thermal comfort and indoor air quality. 17 refs.
