Research at Dundee and Strathclyde universities

Summary

Research projects studying the behaviour of composite structural elements consisting of concrete sandwiched between steel plates ( DSC elements ) are briefly described. A scale model was used to study the influence of shear studs on the behaviour of DSC elements subjected to static and impact loading. The dynamic behaviour of slender structures is being modelled as part of a project to reduce human perception of vibration in slender composite beams. Further studies relate to the impact resistance of DSC shearwalls subjected to in-plane impact.
