Masonry walls and beam-and-block floors: U-values and building regulations


This Digest explains how the requirements of the building regulations for conservation of fuel and power may be satisfied using aggregate concrete blocks.  It gives information on the relevant regulations, showing various routes to compliance, together with a number of examples involving aggregate concrete block construction.  It is written for the concrete block industry, for designers, architects and builders who may be considering using masonry, and for enforcers of the regulations who are assessing applications.  7 refs.
