Thermal behaviour of masonry walls in Istanbul


The thermal behaviour of masonry wall configurations was evaluated with respect to thermal comfort and energy conservation using the software DOE-2.1E. The analysis comprises a comparison of the annual heating and cooling loads of the masonry wall alternatives of the sample building. The exterior and interior surface temperatures of the wall alternatives were computed to appraise dynamic temperature effects on their thermal behaviour both in heating and cooling seasons under the climatic conditions prevailing in Istanbul which has a temperate humid climate.   8 refs.
