The changes to the Building Regulation Document ‘L’ ( Part 1 and Part 2 ) have been in force since 1st January 2003. The requirements contained within the document set new standards for improving the energy efficiency of all new dwellings, including extensions and some refurbishment work, with an emphasis on higher standards of insulation for the building fabric.
Cavity wall insulation products on the market are affected by the new standards and reputable manufacturers are ensuring that their products can claim to meet the new requirements. Thermal Economics, who produce Alreflex, claims that its wall insulation systems provide an economic solution to achieving the U-value ratings required by Part L as well as providing a rain penetration barrier across the cavity wall. In addition, in response to the requirements of Part B, the product claims to meet the approved Class ‘O’ fire resistance rating.
Alreflex foil / bubble pack cavity insulation and rain barrier products are BBA certified.
