An analysis procedure was developed to study the multi-braced earth-retaining structures often used to stabilise the deep foundations of high-rise buildings during construction. The model is based on flexural differential equations, and considers the influence of excavation on internal forces, support reactions and pile displacements as the excavation proceeds. The model was in good agreement with experimental observations. 10 refs.
