BS EN 771-5:2003. Specification for masonry units - pt.5: manufactured stone masonry units


Characteristics and performance requirements are specified for masonry units manufactured to resemble natural stone and  intended mainly for facing or exposed masonry in loadbearing  or non-loadbearing building and civil engineering applications.  The units are suitable for all forms of coursed or random masonry walling, including single leaf, cavity, partition, retaining and external masonry to chimneys, and can provide fire protection, thermal insulation, sound insulation and sound absorption.  The performance related to e.g. strength, density, dimensional accuracy and surface appearance is defined, and the evaluation of the conformity of the product is provided for.  Marking requirements for products are included.  The standard covers units produced by casting or pressing methods with or without textured surfaces, but does not apply to storey-height panels, units used for chimney flues,  or units manufactured with an adhesively bonded decorative face.
