Knife River was the successful bidder in late August on a combined $41 million in new highway construction work.
The Central Texas Division was low bidder on $19.3 million in work on four different Texas State Highway projects, with the largest being $9.2 million on FM 148 in Kaufman County. The other projects are on FM 933 in Hill County at $4 million, SH 6 in Brazos County for $5.1 million and U.S. 79 in Robertson County for $1 million. Knife River – Central Texas Division has its main operations in Bryan/College Station and Waco, performing work in a broad radius around the three cities.
“We continue to see many good projects coming our way through individual state DOT’s,” said Knife River Corporation President and CEO Bill Schneider. “These jobs will keep our backlog strong and will provide good work for many of our employees next season.
Knife River – Central Minnesota, based in Sauk Rapids, Minn., was the low bidder on a $14.3 million job in Minnesota’s Renville and McLeod Counties to complete a lengthy reconstruct and hot-mix asphalt overlay on Minnesota Truck Highway 212.
Knife River’s newest division, the Yellowstone Division in Billings, Mont., was the low bidder on a Montana DOT project to reconstruct approximately four miles of highway nearly 50 miles southwest of Billings, Mont. Knife River’s bid was $7.7 million. The Yellowstone Division is in its first year of a six-year Montana Department of Environmental Quality project to reclaim a 35-acre area north of Yellowstone National Park containing nearly 300,000 tons of abandoned gold tailings.
