Plasan Acquires Massachusetts-Based KaZaK Composites

Plasan, one of the leading producers of composite materials for automotive and defense sectors, has acquired KaZaK Composites, a composite engineering company.

KaZaK Composites, headquartered in Woburn, Massachusetts, specializes in pultrusion processing and combines engineering design and low-cost automated manufacturing process to produce high performance composite structures for the commercial, military and aerospace markets. The company’s technology has various applications that range from design and analysis to prototyping and production of space systems, building structures, ship structures and others.

KaZaK Composites has carried out research and development and production process for NASA, DOE, DOT, NSF and other significant defense and aerospace contractors. The company has ongoing projects with DARPA, Missile Defense Agency, the Air Force, Navy, Army and Marines.

The acquisition of KaZaK Composites will boost Plasan’s composite production capabilities for automotive and defense applications. Both companies will work towards the goal of offering highly integrated range of services in composite design, engineering and support to Plasan’s defense and automotive clients in the U.S.

Recent initiatives of Plasan include the formation of Armored Chariots joint venture with TPI Composites and the start-up of Plasan Carbon Composites, a sales, research, design and engineering facility in Detroit, Michigan.
