PPG Industries' commercial coatings group has announced the introduction of a new 3.5 VOC basecoat called Delfleet Essential Basecoat, which is designed to add values to Delfleet line of products and improve its capabilities.
Delfleet Essential Basecoat is developed for value-conscious collision centers, manufacturers and fleet refinishers looking for improved user friendliness, efficiency and productivity. It is suitable for color refurbishing, repair and when striping is needed.
The combination of ESC621 clearcoat and Delfleet Essential Basecoat delivers improved durability. Moreover, this new basecoat demonstrates quicker dry speeds when compared to single-stage topcoats, thus improving efficiency and productivity of shops.
PPG Industries' Brand Manager for fleet segments, J.J. Wirth stated that the quicker dry times make this new basecoat suitable for striping or two-tone jobs. Reduction in shop inventory is achievable as the basecoat is blended from the same color formula like the single-stage topcoat.
Delfleet Essential Basecoat widens the color palette of the product line. The new basecoat has pearl color and must be mixed with ESC621 clearcoat, solids and metallic colors. In order to maintain the efficiency and easier mixing of the Delfleet Essential line, the mixing of both the new basecoat and single-stage topcoats can be done with the same ESSS color formula. A new hardener and a new basecoat converter are mixed with the ESSS color. The decision to add a color as a basecoat or a single-stage topcoat can be taken when the technician is set to spray.
