J.F. Kiely Construction has taken delivery of mats for an environmentally sensitive project in Monmouth County, New Jersey.
In addition, Northeast Remsco Construction, following the initial 10-month trial under a joint testing agreement, will expand its use of STRUXURE® mats. The sales were made through AXION's distributor, New Jersey-based Environmental Infrastructure Solutions (EIS), which distributes environmentally friendly products to infrastructure contractors and municipalities in New Jersey.

Northeast Remsco, AXION's first customer to use STRUXURE® Construction Mats, recently completed a 10-month trial in parallel with traditional wood mats. After 10 months of use, STRUXURE® mats are ready to ship to Northeast Remsco's next construction location to perform another job, while 80% of the traditional wood mats used in parallel needed to be disposed of because they were chewed up by the heavy machinery driving over them.
"The performance of the STRUXURE® mats was exceptional," stated Jeff Clayton, Northeast Remsco's Site Superintendent at the Old Bridge, New Jersey trial project. "The product has proven resilient over 10-months in harsh conditions and is still 100% in-tact, far exceeding our expectations. We will soon be moving these mats to a new site where they will continue to serve our future construction operations very well."
AXION's EVP for Building Products Dave Crane explained, "The plastics we use to make STRUXURE® mats are high-density polyethylene mixed with glass-filled polypropylene from post-consumer and post-industrial waste streams. The mats are impervious to moisture, made from 100% recycled materials, and are far more durable than timber-based models. They do not gain weight by absorbing liquids, warp or lose strength. Applications for the mats are diverse, and include oil, gas, mining, and civil projects in addition to, temporary roads, work platforms, swamp access, wet jobsites, staging and laydown sites, and remote work camps in difficult terrain. AXION also provides accessory products for berming containment liners, storage supports, outrigger pads and retaining walls.
