Award-winning, national architecture and design company, OZ Architecture will be involved in re-designing the largest ski resort in the US along with Salt Lake City-based Langvardt Design Group.

The two companies were recently selected by Replay Resorts, Canyons Village’s master developer on behalf of TCFC Finance Co LLC. The task is to re-envision the resort by preparing a new master plan and design guidelines that will pave the path for any future development.

With the team, we're looking at it from a 30,000-foot view to create a vibrant community that's a portal to the wide variety of outdoor adventures Park City offers throughout the year. This refreshed master plan takes into account Canyon Village's long-term vision and will guide how the resort plans to grow over the next five to fifteen years, reflecting a more cosmopolitan and sophisticated look and feel, yet keeping the Park City and the Utah vibe.

Rebecca Stone, OZ Architecture

The master plan will include several new buildings situated across 20 parcels in the resort community, which is spread over 495 acres of land.

The plan will take the village and adjacent resort areas into consideration, to ensure that all of the buildings connect and relate with each other. It will also ensure that pedestrian areas, roads, and lifts intermingle impeccably and offer better auto access and pedestrian friendly zones for future retail, and lodging.

Together, the designers, architects and our team are envisioning buildings that will meet a variety of long-term needs in Park City, taking-on a more contemporary mountain design to keep fresh with the buyers expectations, and that will match the market's demand for program for years to come. OZ and Langvardt Design Group's expertise is guiding us toward a new vision for the future of the resort as we work to make the Canyons Village a true year round destination that meets the needs of 21st century guests.

Gary Raymond, Managing Director of Replay Resorts

The master plan will make sure the Park City and Utah outdoor adventure experience is actually launched from Canyons Village.

Plans are already in progress to renovate the Canyons Village into a vibrant four-season center of recreation, imagination and celebration. Also included in the plans is a proposed conference center that will host events throughout the year; and a proposed aquatic center in the village with a high-tech pool and water facilities that is likely to give families one more place any time of the year.

The opportunity exists to create an authentic year round resort at Canyons Village with world class skiing, championship golf, maybe the best mountain biking in the west, hiking, and a true mountain village that will be ground zero for all of these activities. The master plan is focusing on the creation of a pedestrian-scaled walkable village with outdoor spaces and amenities, shops and activities that will come together to become the destination in Park City. The plan is to create those special places that you want to come back to enjoy year after year.

Eric Langvardt, Langvardt Design Group

The original master plan of the Canyon Village was developed over two decades ago. It was time to upgrade the place to better serve resort-goers of today as well as the future.

Other aspects that the new plan will consider are the changing traffic patterns in the area, and creation of new mountain and lift access portals. New lodge buildings, will consist of one to four bedroom condominium units that are flexible to match the current market.
