Four Companies Join Forces to Promote Bridge Grid Flooring Alternatives

D.S. Brown Company, along with L.B. Foster Company, Interlocking Deck Systems International and Bailey Bridges Inc., will form the next generation Bridge Grid Flooring
Manufacturers Association ("BGFMA").

Kirk Feuerbach, President and CEO of D.S. Brown said, "The BGFMA will be composed of companies who either manufacture, or have an interest in, bridge grid reinforced flooring and Exodermic(TM) decking systems for bridges. The purpose of the BGFMA will be to utilize research and development, education and marketing research to expand these uses."

According to Mark Kaczinski, who will serve as the association's
Executive Director, the BGFMA will address a key area of the declining
state of the US infrastructure. "Many of the bridges in the US are rated as
either structurally deficient or functionally obsolete. In addition, new
bridges are being built to serve our growing transportation needs. Bridge
grid reinforced flooring and Exodermic(TM) decking are time tested
economical solutions for either bridge maintenance and repair or new
structures. The BGFMA will focus its efforts on demonstrating to owners,
engineers and government agencies the advantages of bridge grid reinforced
flooring and Exodermic(TM) decking such as its lower cost over the life of
the bridge and the quick and efficient installation to minimize traffic
issues." Kaczinski goes on to say, "These are critical issues that resonate
with voters and taxpayers."
