Pulte Homes, Inc. (NYSE:PHM) has once again been named one of the Top 50 Best Performing Companies in BusinessWeek magazine's annual performance rankings of the companies in the Standard & Poor's 500 stock index.
Pulte ranked 12th among the Top 50 companies and is the only homebuilder ranked on this year's list.
Included on this year's list are steel-maker Nucor Corp., energy giants Conoco Phillips and Chevron Texaco, and Yahoo! Inc. In its special April 4, 2005 issue, BusinessWeek ranks the S & P 500 companies based on a 10-part formula for financial success, including sales growth, earnings growth and total shareholder return.
To reward consistency, BusinessWeek also measures performance over one year and three year periods, and also analyzes profit margins and return on equity. The 2005 rankings mark Pulte Homes' fourth consecutive appearance on the BusinessWeek 50 list.
