Southland Energy Selected to Develop Energy Improvement Projects at Fort Knox, Kentucky

Southland Energy, the comprehensive energy services division of Southland Industries, has been selected as Nolin Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation’s preferred contractor for all energy services projects executed at the US Army Post at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

Under Nolin’s utility energy services contract with Fort Knox, Southland Energy will develop and implement energy improvement projects. Through such energy projects, the US Army aims to reduce the energy related costs of operating and maintaining facilities at Fort Knox.

“Southland Energy is proud to serve Nolin and Fort Knox in meeting their energy efficiency and energy security goals,” said Nello Tortora, Federal Programs Director of Southland Energy. “Given our demonstrated energy expertise and innovative approach through $1.3 billion in past federal design-build projects, we believe we can make a significant, positive impact at Fort Knox.”

Consisting of over 17 million square feet of facility space across 169 square miles, Fort Knox is occupied by 25,000 soldiers, families, and Army civilians each day. The Fort Knox energy program has long been recognized as a leader in the Department of the Army and has resulted in several energy efficiency projects, renewable technologies, as well as a combined heat and power project that is currently in progress.
