Georgia-Pacific Gypsum’s DensDeck Roof Boards Experience Growing Demand

The implementation of 2012 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) necessitates increased levels of energy efficiency.

The new energy code over the 2006 IECC entails a well-insulated roof for new or renovated commercial buildings, fundamental for the buildings that are designed to demonstrate about 30 % increase in energy efficiencies. Along with the LEED, IgCC, Green Globes, and ASHRAE 189.1, the IECC emphasizes the importance of using durable roof cover board like DensDeck Roof Board. It will provide enhanced insulation in compliance to the energy code.

The Sustainability Manager at Georgia-Pacific Gypsum, Barry Reid, LEED AP BD+C says that following the rapid demand for enhanced energy-efficiency, there is an increase in the economic value of roofs. High-performing roof boards are therefore necessary to promote safe insulation as damaged insulations require costly and complicated fixing-up. DensDeck durable cover board offers versatility and protection.

Georgia-Pacific Gypsum will exhibit its novel array of DensDeck Roof Boards at the 2012 International Roofing Expo. The cover boards, renowned to have excellent durability and efficiency, are ideally used as thermal barriers for several commercial roofing applications. Roofing systems with majority of foot traffic and roofs made up of vegetative, photovoltaic or cool materials utilize DensDeck panels that can be incorporated in such roofs as a supreme protection component.

The 2012 International Roofing Expo is scheduled between Feb 22 and 24, in Orlando, Fla. Georgia-Pacific Gypsum’s innovative products, in addition to the prescriptive R-value ratings and information on new and existing roofing standards and codes will be showcased at the show.
