2012 Progressive Architecture Awards to be Sponsored by PPG Industries

PPG Industries will financially support the 59th annual Progressive Architecture Awards (P/A Awards) Celebration at the Museum of Modern Art in New York scheduled on February 16, 2012.

For over five decades, the P/A Awards have been presented to architectural designs and buildings across the world that exceeds conventional limits, thereby introducing several advancements in construction. This year, out of the 200 projects, only 10 were recognized as P/A Award winners.

According to PPG flat glass Vice President, Richard A. Beuke, the firm has been the producer of the renowned architectural glass that serves to be the basis of art and science of building design. Sponsoring the P/A Awards will improve the bond between architects and firms, thereby maintaining the prominence of glass in the present-day design.

The esteemed P/A Awards were established in 1954 and are one of the most distinguished distinctions in the industry. They were introduced by the editors of the now-defunct Progressive Architecture magazine. In 1996, the awards were presented by the Architecture magazine. In 2006, the P/A Awards were acquired by the publisher of ARCHITECT magazine, Hanley Wood.

PPG is well known for producing SUNGATE and SOLARBAN passive low-emissivity (low-e) glasses and high-performance solar control glasses. STARPHIRE glass is the most distinguished transparent commercial architectural glass. In addition, it also offers a range of high-performance tinted glasses. PPG is North America’s unique glass manufacturer with its comprehensive array of architectural glass to be accredited with CRADLE TO CRADLE certification.
