NAHB Gold Award Presented to Wesley Palms for Innovative Design

US based full service retirement community, Wesley Palms has been presented with the Gold award by the National Association of Home Builders 50+ Housing Council for its creative design in its lobby. The community is located in San Diego’s Mission Bay.

Wesley Palms, a full-service retirement community located in Pacific Beach overlooking San Diego's Mission Bay, was this week named Gold Award winner by the National Association of Home Builders' (NAHB) 50+ Housing Council for the innovative design of its recently remodeled lobby.

The lobby was designed by CastleRock Design Group from Newport Beach, California with a main focus on creating an integrated and strong gathering place in the main building of the community.

A series of small gathering places was connected to form a large gathering place, which could act as a parallel space to other common areas that are next to the lobby such as the auditorium and the art gallery. The lobby has been added with separate conversation areas, a food and beverage bar, a convenience store called the Palm Tree and other entertainment places. The design was carried out in such a manner to allow more light in addition to providing efficient lighting in the lobby. The furniture has been chosen in such a manner that it is functional and adds colour and excitement to the lobby and which can be used for musical performances, informal gatherings and general parties.

A total of 36 Gold awards, 40 Silver awards and 7 other entries were honoured for their innovation. Wesley Palms won the Gold award in the “Best Remodeled Project” category. Wesley Palms is part of a non-profit organisation providing housing for seniors called the “Front Porch”.
