York Bridge Concepts Completes Construction of Timber Pedestrian Bridge for Wellstar

York Bridge Concepts (YBC) has announced that it has completed the construction of a 160ft timber based pedestrian bridge for Wellstar’s community hospice located in Kennesaw Mountain in Marietta.

Wellstar's One-of-a-Kind Timber Pedestrian Bridge

The bridge was built using YBC’s deck level construction method under which involves building from the bridge. Under this method, most of the construction work is carried out from the deck of the bridge thus reducing the footprint of the bridge.

The construction team from YBC used high quality safety gear during the building of the 20ft high bridge. The bridge has been coated with texturized polymer coating from YBC to enhance the durability of the bridge and improve safety of pedestrians. The acrylic based coating is available in any colour and helps in protecting wood from cracks and knots. It is also resistant to fire and slip and provides a long lasting surface. The coating is non-toxic, is water free and VOC free. It also helps in avoiding wood preservatives from leaching into the environment.

Wellstar is a hospital based hospice program that was established in 1982 and has been set up to provide support to more than 1,500 terminally ill patients every year. The team from YBC gave utmost importance to the safety of the crew, environment and pedestrians at all times during the construction. The bridge enables patients, employees and visitors to have a peaceful walk through the ravines and wooded grounds.
