LCS Constructors Begins New Laboratory Building Project for TPC Group

LCS Constructors, Inc. (LCS) broke ground for the new 19,500 square foot laboratory facility for TPC Group (formerly Texas Petrochemicals) in Houston, Texas on September 9, 2010.

The design-build project will consist of a combined quality control (QC) and research and development (R&D) laboratory. The facility design will maximize energy efficiency in the application of the HVAC and exhaust systems and will also include outfitting the entire QA/R&D laboratory with all specialty gases, casework, and custom enclosures for development units. The new laboratory building will also include a customer showroom/conference room and offices.

Development units are generally a lab-scale version of a chemical processing system used in order to reduce the risk associated with implementation of process improvements in a larger chemical processing plant. These smaller versions of the actual plant provide information and data valuable to evaluate new processes and process improvements.

LCS is expected to complete the project in the second quarter of 2011.
