KBR Receives Major Residential Development Project in Papua New Guinea

KBR (NYSE:KBR) today announced that it has been awarded a contract to provide building services engineering for a $130 million USD apartment complex in Papua New Guinea (PNG).

The apartment complex is being developed by PNG’s Motor Vehicles Insurance Limited in partnership with Moss Capital, and will include four 8-story apartment buildings, 24 town houses and 17 villas, with a total of 143 apartments.

“This project will highlight KBR’s broad project expertise and long-standing track record of delivering high quality service to its customers,” said Colin Elliott, President, KBR Infrastructure and Minerals. Additionally, KBR will work to deliver technically advanced and environmentally-friendly services to this major residential development project.

KBR’s Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide-based engineers will design a power system using load shedding which will lessen the usage of out air-conditioning condenser units. This action will decrease the size of back-up generators needed in the event of power supply interruptions. The complex will also have an on-site water storage system that houses a 24-hour water supply, and filtration and chlorination system.
