New Heavy-duty Fire Door Operator From Abloy

Abloy Security has launched a new heavy-duty door operator, which has been specially designed for use in high density pedestrian traffic areas, including hospitals, airports, hotels, shopping centres and all public buildings.

The DA361 can be used on external and internal doors, both single and double, and is perfectly suited for fire doors, as it has been developed to meet the requirements of the EN13501-2 and EN1634-1 standards and can be connected directly to fire alarm systems. Each DA361 door operator incorporates a power supply unit, motor control board, door closing mechanism, and position sensors in a single, compact and robust unit. The system features sophisticated control mechanisms, with an electro-mechanical clutch and hydraulic closing system. This helps to minimise energy consumption and, as importantly, improve control over opening and closing speeds and force. These are easy to adjust onsite, together with latching speed and hold open time.

In addition, the new DA361 door operator will automatically reopen up to four times if the doorway is blocked. The new door operator can also be configured to assist manual opening and is programmable to provide a push and go function for use in locations where a low opening force is required. This feature makes the DA361 particularly useful for people with disabilities and enables the system to be used in areas that need to comply with the requirements outlined by the Disability Discrimination Act.

When fitted with a standard arm, the DA361 can be used on doors with a maximum weight of 125 kg and with a maximum door leaf width of 1000 mm; when used with a sliding arm the new door operator can be used on doors with a maximum weight of 90 kg and a door leaf width of 1000 mm. The DA361 has a maximum opening angle of 110º on the opening side and 100º on the closing side, has been developed to meet class 6 closing force requirements according to EN1154 and the provisional EN12650 standards, and has been tested to 1 million opening/closing cycles; this is considerably higher than the number of cycles specified by competing manufacturers.

The low maintenance DA361 has a slim line design and is available in an aluminium finish.

Supplied complete with arm and mounting plate, the new heavy-duty door operator unit is extremely easy to install and commission.
