Digital Realty Trust Declares Purchase of Data Centre Development Site in Melbourne, Australia

Digital Realty Trust, a worldwide provider of data center solutions, declared that it has finished the purchase of a development site measuring 30,250 sq m located at 162 and 163 Radnor Drive in Melbourne, Australia for around AU $4.1 million. It is the second purchase of the company in Australia.

The new property placed inside the Paramount Industrial Park development is located around 19 km west of the central business district of Melbourne and in close proximity to the Western Ring Road and Western Freeway. The first project located at 162, Radnor Drive has enough space to support four 1440 kW Turn-Key Datacentre POD development and the second one at 163 Radnor Drive has enough space to sustain the development of two 1440 kW Turn-Key datacentre PODs. The company is in the process of getting the site development approvals to commence building of the new facilities.

Each physically secure Turn-Key datacentre facility developed by Digital Realty Trust boasts latest power and cooling structural designs to work optimally, ensuring green operation. The datacenters are constructed utilizing proprietary POD architecture of the company and utilized metered electric power to assure the clients that they pay for only what they use. The PowerVU software installed at the facilities assist in supervising and administration of load, energy efficiency and power consumption at the data center.

According to Kris Kumar, Digital Realty Trust’s Regional Head of Asia Pacific within a period of twelvemonths the construction of the shell and core of the first building and the first two 1440 kW Turn-Key datacentre PODs will be completed.
